Colorado-Based Filmmakers
The professional film community in Colorado is growing! Many other states have state-specific funds just for local filmmakers and projects shooting in the state, but Colorado doesn't (are we wrong? Let us know!)
Though the Flatiron Film Project is new and we're not quite there yet, our goal is to make funds more easily available to Colorado residents shooting films in Colorado. As we grow, more information will be shared on exactly how to apply.
Join our mailing list to stay up to speed. We're hoping to get this baby up and running by the end of 2025!

FAQ
What is the Flatiron Film Project?
The Flatiron Film Project is a nonprofit organization based in Broomfield, Colorado on a mission to support the generation of independent film and theater projects in the U.S., particularly in the state of Colorado. We are young and scrappy and excited to fulfill our mission to make funds more easily available for bold and perseverant creatives.
When will grant applications open?
We anticipate that the first round of applications will open in the fourth quarter of 2025. Fill out our contact form, above, to stay in the loop.
We anticipate awarding grants in two categories: For Colorado-based filmmakers, and for U.S.-based filmmakers. Colorado-based filmmakers can apply to both. Eligible filmmakers can demonstrate a body of work, are U.S. residents and plan to shoot their projects in the United States with cast and crew made up of majority U.S. residents. Proof of residency will be requested in the final rounds of applications.
Who is eligible for a Flatiron Film Project grant?
Can students apply for a grant?
No, this is not intended for student filmmakers. Although film students may be part of the cast or crew, all of the primary creatives (writer, director, producer, dp) must be operating at the professional level.
Is there a particular genre the Flatiron Film Project prefers?
We are partial to narrative film, but documentary projects may apply and may be funded as well. As for genre, we're all suckers for comedy over here! That said, our team looks at the whole of a project, including script, previous works, creative vision, and preparedness when considering where to award funding.
